I AM AT A LOSS IN HOW TO ADRESS MY HEALTHCARE- IT IS A COMPLETE AND TOTAL COLLAPSE AT VB HARLINGEN
UPDATE:
It is sad a bad nurse followed by a bad doctor can send things spiraling out of control.
Everything has been so good, once the problems were corrected. Even food service got all three meals right. They know to consult me on every meal. They are now making sure my needs are met.
I am dead serious about my blood sugar. Also because of the inflammation in the jaw, I need soft food, Tonight was great - broiled fish with soft carrots and peas. Breakfast is cream of wheat
My morning nurse was a breath of fresh air. I thanked her for a nice day. It was a difficult day with getting me a PICC IV, but we got through it. I do not know why a nurse has to begin the shift with confrontation. You are not going to tell me you are going to do it your way. You are going to follow the orders. You are not going to make your own orders.
Had she just checked the orders what happened never would have happened. She is one of those type nurses who will dismiss a patient because they are under the care of a psychiatrist. My orders relate to the trauma of the experience. VB Harlingen has a good program with mental health. It is the best I have seen in the LRGV. The team is top of the line.
My day doctor without speaking to me, or the psychiatrist decided to do what she wanted. It turned into a disaster. You do not change a specialist's order without consulting them.
Once the problems were addressed it was great. Like I said I thank the nurse for a great day. It was not easy.
Because of my dehydration, they could not access a blood vessel. The first attempt ended with failure. I let out a very loud yell when she hit a nerve. It was like an electrical bolt shooting to my hand. It was not her fault. Everyone appreciated how I went out of my way to say it was not the nurse's fault.
The evening nurse knows my routine. She came in and all was great. A bit ago she brought me sugar free pudding. Things were quiet and she checked on any needs her patients may have.
Last night's evening nurse was pushing me to change my emergency contact to a family member out of state rather than my roommate. Everyone is in communication. My brother checks in daily to tell me to behave, and my roommate checks in 3 times a day. He is learning what it is to manage the home. I am so grateful for roommate and his son.
This week was garage door repair, getting my truck to Hyundai under the warranty: it would not run so they called him to make arrangement for the tow; finally, he has learned to pool routine.
I AM KEEPING THE ORIGINAL SO YOU CAN SEE WHAT HAPPENS WHEN GOOD PEOPLE STEP UP TO THE PLATE
The only reason I am not checking out of VB Harlingen is because it could cost me my life. But staying here could cost me my life.
I should note while preparing this, the psychiatrist who is assigned to me came by, and immediately took action of several fronts. The patients here when dealing with medical trauma are monitored by a psychiatrist. He is very good. Things which can be changed will be changed.
I have no choice but to stay because terminating the intravenous antibiotic infusion therapy. People who cannot afford it die; it is that simple.
I want to be clear, what I am going through is a walk in the park compared to cancer or organ transplant patients.
It is medical science 101 that dehydration can cause elevated blood sugar and high blood pressure. This can lead to death.
Maybe a week ago both IV's failed. After using me as a pin cushion without any success at accessing a vein, they put in a PICC line. The PICC line requires numbing to place a 4-inch line into a vein in the bicep.
The unwillingness of the people at Solara, in-patient long-term care, to replace the PICC line is in part why everything fell apart, and the VA agreed to allow me to do the long-term care here at VB.
Look, very few people in the medical community understand hypothalamic dysfunction. This is a key part of my medical care. Since being in VB Harlingen, my hypothalamic dysfunction care has stopped.
Late this morning they finally sent someone to put in a new PICC line. Since this morning the nurses have been told to pull the old one. An infection can set it. It is going on 3 days since it failed.
The new PICC line failed. She hit a nerve, and I yelled out in horrible pain as a bolt of electricity went into my hand.
She was awesome and stopped. She showed me how there was no access to a blood vessel due to dehydration. So, it has been maybe 3-4 hours, and they are trying to decide how to access a blood vessel while I am dehydrated.
I am tired.
I AM HALFWAY ONE WITH THE LAWSUIT SEEKING AN ORDER FROM A TRAVIS COUNTY JUDGE TO ORDER THE STATE BAR TO SUSPEND SOROLA AND COMPANY IMMEDIATELY
