MARIO SAENZ, WHY IS HE BEING GIVEN SPECIAL PRIVILEGES AT THE BROWNSVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT WHILE OTHERS ARE TOLD THERE IS NO ONE AVAILABLE TO SPEAK WITH THE AVERAGE JOE?
The answer is, maybe he had an appointment. That is actually worse.
On Friday I was told I could not speak with a supervisor because they were all too busy to meet with the average Joe.
While waiting, Mario Saenz walks in with two other men and then are escorted to the back. The only reason to be at the Brownsville Police Department is to discuss an ongoing investigation. The other option, you are getting out of the city jail.
I have no idea why Mario Saenz was at the BPD. But it does not look good when he is escorted to the back with two men, all smiles, and he is the brother of district attorney Luis Saenz. The police chief should know better, but he does not.
A reasonable person can assume he was there using his brother's name, Luis Saenz to influence an investigation.
We all know John Cowen will do nothing in terms of an investigation into the matter. The police chief will certainly run cover for his staff.
I have witnesses and I will be demanding an investigation by city officials.
Offhand I do not remember how an open records work with the Brownsville BPD. I also need to make sure I can request a list of all meetings Mario Saenz had at the BPD over the last year.
THE BROWNSVILLE KEYSTONE COPS NEVER CEASE TO AMAZE ME
I am trying to learn the procedure for release of someone on a Class C. The information officer very clearly tells me, and then a second during a shift change, unless the person detained pays $350, they cannot get out of jail. I explained to both information officers if someone wants to plead not guilty the judge bonds them out on a PR bond. I demanded they make this clear to the detained persons. Nope, they stood their ground. It is a scam to make them pay the $350 or feel like they will not get out.
I finally spoke with a sergeant who became belligerent with me when I explained she was just as wrong as the information officers. When she insisted I was wrong I said she is not qualified to be a police officer. If as a police officer you believe someone has to pay $350 to plead not guilty, not are you not qualified to be a police officer, your are a product of BISD where you were just passed along without concern if you actually learned anything.
When I spoke with the LT., he said well things are different from county to county. He knew exactly what he was saying. He knew I knew Mario Saenz's was being given consideration
The LT did agree his offers were wrong.
The detainees need to be told, if they wait to see the judge and plead not guilty the judge can set a bond, after you plead not guilty. Class C bonds are always PR bonds.
